Gilsonite, also known as uintahite or asphaltum, is a bitumen-impregnated rock (asphaltite) mainly found in the Uintah Basin of Utah and Colorado, United States and also Kermanshah of Iran. It is naturally occurring solid hydrocarbon bitumen.
